Huis Lesedi opened in March 2006 as a foster home for children that were HIV positive, were neglected, abandoned, had special needs or were rescued from abortion. Huis Lesedi provided love and care to several such children for more than a year. Children, who crawled deep into our hearts in that time.
Huis Lesedi was opened in March 2006 by the uMephi project, a registered Welfare project of the AFM of Southern Africa's Executive Welfare Council. Huis Lesedi - which means House of Light - is a halfway house where abused and neglected babies and toddlers, as well as abandoned children, are taken care of and nurtured until they can be reunited with their families or adopted.
